GeoJot & GPS-Photo Link for field data collection and photo mapping.
*Please note that similar questions may have been combined

Q: Can you create a list on the fly while taking a pic?
A: You can certainly create a list or add an item to an existing list while you are in the field. If you realize you need one more attribute after you have snapped a photo, just exit out, modify your list and then retake the photo.

Q: If you take a pic not using GeoJot, and your location services are turned on...it geo-codes the pic. Can you then go back and add attribute data?
A: Yes, you can do that GPS-Photo Link. GeoJot field data is processed back in the office using GPS-Photo Link. Using GPS-Photo Link you can modify or add attribute data and you can even modify your GPS location before the data is output into reports, mapping systems, or other backend databases.

Q: Can you create a one-click project icon for less savvy field inspectors? Something where the form is made centrally, and all the field personel need to do is click and icon and go and send me back a project file to map.
A: Yes. You can have one “crew leader” who makes the data collection lists and then sends them out to the entire team of field inspectors. The field inspectors will have to import and select the list in GeoJot once. Then every time they open the app, they just select the camera and take the picture. They will be prompted to enter in all the items in the list. They select done and repeat. We are testing new functionality right now that would allow you to automatically upload every picture as it taken to the cloud for processing in GPS-Photo Link back in the office.

Q: Can you use this with an asset management system like GBA or Lucity
A: When you process the data through GPS-Photo Link, you can output the data into a .csv format which can then be imported to update an existing record in your database or to create new records in your database. In addition, all the attribute data you have collected is written into the EXIF header of your .jpg photo so the photo and the data can never become disconnected.

Q: Did I hear correctly that you can only have up to 9 attribute fields in the tables that you create?
A: No, GeoJot allows you to add 24 descriptive attributes to each photo.

Q: We have a 4-page monitoring form for each site visit. The form is in a MS Word document. We take multiple photos for each monitoring form. Can this form be loaded into GeoJot so that we can fill out the form on a smart phone in the field? If yes, will photos be linked to the form?
A: In GPS-Photo Link you can create customized reports in Word, Adobe .pdf and html. We are currently finishing some custom functionality for one of our customers that allows them to create reports in a “contact sheet” format displaying multiple photos with attribute information on one page for each site they are photographing. Please contact John Clark directly if you have specific needs around custom reporting.

Q: Can you edit data while you are in the field?
A: Yes, in the Android version of the app you can edit your data in the field after it has been collected. Please note that this is not possible in the IOS version of GeoJot due to constraints of that operating system.

Q: Can you walk up to a target, lock the GPS Values and walk away to obtain a preferred camera angle for the picture with the android product.
A: Yes, you can lock in the GPS location, then step back from the item you are photographing and capture the exact location of the item instead of the location of the photographer.

Q: When editing, can you replace the photo keeping the attributes that were already collected?
A: It is actually even easier than that. When collecting the data in the field with GeoJot, enter the attribute data for your first photograph. When you go to take the next photo, it will show the values you entered for the last photo. Just select done instead of changing the attribute information and the attribute values will be the same for both photos.

Q: Will the app still take an image if you have no gps signal - eg let you add this afterwards? we work in forested areas with poor signal sometimes.
A: Yes. When you process the data there will be no lat or long for that image. You can then use the map in attribute editor tab in GPS-Photo Link to add that location information after the photo has been taken. You can also use the attribute editor to move the GPS point if you had a poor signal that resulted in an inaccurate position.

Q: Will GeoJot work on an Android tablet without a 3G or 4G data plan?
A: Yes, GeoJot uses the internal GPS chip in the tablet to capture the GPS coordinates. Without a data plan, you would need to download the photos and associated data to your PC instead of uploading them to the cloud.

Q: Do iPhones read bar-code also?
A: Adding a barcode reader to iPhone app is on the list of future upgrades but it was considerably more difficult to add that functionality in the IOS system than in the Android system.

Q: Does this work with QR codes or just Bar Codes?
A: It works with both QR and DataMatrix codes (2d Barcodes).

Q: Does this app work on all tablets or just iPads?
A: All tablets. There are two versions of the app, one that works with iPhones/iPads and one that works with Android smartphones and tablets.

Q: How does GeoJot improve the GPS accuracy more than is standard for these devices?
A: GeoJot improves the accuracy of IOS systems – iPhones and iPads. Apple does not utilize all the information collected by their GPS chips, GeoJot captures the additional information and is able to get much greater accuracy (3-5 meters) out of the Apple devices. Android devices already utilize all the available GPS information.

Q: For those of us who already use PhotoLink, what would be the per-user cost to add GeoJot to our workflow?
A: $99 per GeoJot app

Q: what sort of cost is the app?
A: The price for an individual license of the GeoJot app is $99.99. The price for an individual license of GPS-Photo Link is $349. We also offer different levels of enterprise licensing for GeoJot and GPS-Photo Link. Educational and bulk discounts are available. Please email or call John Clark (303) 255-2908 for more details.

Q: Do you allow other organizations to resell or OEM GeoJot?
A:We have had several organizations contact us about including GeoJot in a larger product suite that they offer to their customers. We do have a model in place for OEM agreements around GeoJot, please contact us for more information.
