Importing from Pathfinder Office

GPS-Photo Link supports the Shape File output from Trimble Pathfinder Office.

It does not support the CSV file output.

If you use Pathfinder Office to process Trimble data, use the following instructions to connect this data to GPS-Photo Link and create ESRI Shape Files with for photos.

A. Output an ESRI shape file with the following attributes :

B. In the GPS Data Screen, select the shape file you exported from Pathfinder as the Geotagging Wizard.

Trimble GPS Bluetooth Setup

Includes instructions for GeoExplorer series: 2003, 2005, 2008. Scroll down to find the instructions for your Geo.

There are also instructions for sending photos from the Ricoh to a GeoExplorer via Bluetooth.

Trimble GeoExplorer 2003 Series Bluetooth Com Port Setup

Press “F4”, Select “Discoverable”. (If the Trimble is turned off, you have to set it to “Discoverable” every time you turn it on).

Click on the “Serial Ports” tab at the bottom. Under “Hosts Serial Ports”, click “New”.

Enter a name for the port, such as “NMEA”

Choose a Port number (use COM6 or COM7)

Uncheck “Authentication” and “Encryption

Click “Finish”.

 

Click “Start”, “Settings”, “Connections” tab, “GPS Connector” icon.

In GPS Connector, click “Setup”.

For NMEA Output, choose the Bluetooth Com port selected previously (Com6 or Com7).

Click “Ok”. GPS Connector should say “COM2 connected to COM6” if it is working.

GPS Connector has to be kept running for the Bluetooth data to be output .

Press “F1” start GPS Controller software to show GPS status.

 

Trimble GeoExplorer 2005 Series Bluetooth Com Port Setup for Sending GPS data to Camera

Press “Start”, then select “:Settings” from list

Select “Connections” tab at bottom of screen

Select “Bluetooth” icon. Check both boxes, “Turn on Bluetooth” and “Make the device discoverable to other devices

Click on the “Serial Ports” tab at the bottom.

Under “Hosts Serial Ports”, click “New”.

Enter a name for the port, such as “NMEA

Choose a Port number (use COM6 or COM7)

Uncheck “Authentication” and “Encryption” boxes

Click “Finish”.

COM6: NMEA” should now appear in the “Hosts – Serial Ports” lists.

 

Click “Start”, “Settings”, “Connections” tab,

Select “GPS Connector” icon.

In GPS Connector, click “Setup”.

For NMEA Output, choose the Bluetooth Com port selected previously (Com6 or Com7).

Click “Ok”. GPS Connector should say “COM2 connected to COM6” if it is working.

NMEA Setup Instructions

In “GPS Controller” select “Setup” from dropdown list.

Click on “GPS Settings

Press “GPS” button to connect to GPS Receiver

Scroll down list to” NMEA Output” and select “On

Click on “Wrench” Icon

Set “Output Interval” to “1 second

Select the following output types, “GGA”, “GSA”, “GSV”, and “RMC

Press “OK” twice

Press “GPS” button to disconnect GPS.

Trimble GeoExplorer 2008 Series Bluetooth Com Port Setup for Sending GPS data to Camera

Prior to setting the Trimble GeoExplorer 2008 Series Receiver set the Passcode on your Bluetooth Digital Camera (e.g. 0000). See Caplio500 Instructions below

 On the Trimble GeoExplorer use the following instructions:

Press “Start”, then select “:Settings” from list

Select “Connections” tab at bottom of screen

Select “Bluetooth” icon. Click on “Mode” Tab

Check both boxes, “Turn on Bluetooth” and “Make the Device Discoverable to other devices

Click “OK

Click on the “GPS Connector” icon.

In the NMEA drop down box, select “Bluetooth – Com9

Click “OK

A popup window should appear with “Connecting”, followed by “COM2 connected to COM9

 

DO NOT EXIT GPS CONNECTOR APPLICATION – IT MUST BE RUNNING TO SEND/RECEIVE DATA VIA BLUETOOTH – DO NOT PRESS “OK”

 

NMEA Setup Instructions

Press “Start”, and select GPS Controller software to show GPS status/

In “GPS Controller” select “Setup” from dropdown list.

Click on “GPS Settings

Press “GPS” button to connect to GPS Receiver

Scroll down list to” NMEA Output” and select “On

Click on “Wrench” Icon

Set “Output Interval” to “1 second

Select the following output types, “GGA”, “GSA”, “GSV”, and “RMC

Press “OK” twice

Press “GPS” button to disconnect GPS.

Sending a picture from the Ricoh 500SE Camera to a Trimble 2008 Series GeoExplorer

Set ” PASSKEY ” per Instructions Above.

Have GeoExplorer Bluetooth “ Discoverable ” (See 2008 Series Bluetooth Setup above)

Press “Menu” button on Camera

Press “Right Arrow” button twice to get to EXP SET menu

Press “Down Arrow” button 6 times to select “BT SERIAL

Press “Right Arrow: button to get the following message:

THE DESTINATION NOT REGISTERED. SEARCH DESTINATION?

Select “YES” and press “OK”.

The Camera will now display a list of found Bluetooth Devices.

Select the correct found GeoExplorer and press “OK”.

The display will show “Connecting”, and then “Connected

Press “Review” button on camera and select desired picture to send by pressing “Right Arrow” button.

Press “ MENU ” button and press “ Down Arrow ” button 7 times to access “ FILE SEND ”

Press ” Right Arrow ” button. A list of “ Found Devices ” will appear.

Select desired GeoExplorer and press “ OK ” button to accept

 

NOTE: WHEN YOU SEND YOUR FIRST PICTURE TO THE GEOEXPLORER THE RICOH500SE MAY DISPLAY A MESSAGE “COMMUNICATING- DISCONNECT NOW” SELECT “YES” AND SELECT THE GEOEXPLORER AGAIN.

On the GeoExplorer accept the connection to the camera by selecting “ YES ” in the dialog box

Select “ SEND ONE ” or “ SEND ALL ” as desired, and then press “ OK ”

The GeoExplorer will then request PASSCODE entry. Enter in correct PASSCODE (PASSKEY)

Select and tap on “ FINISH ” on GeoExplorer

The Ricoh 500SE should show “ Sending ” and the GeoExlorer will display a popup that it is receiving a file

Click on “ YES ” on the GeoExplorer to accept the picture being sent.

Press “ OK ” on Camera when prompted that” Sending Complete”
