GPS-Photo Link ArcView 3.x Extension

This extension for ArcView 3.x will allow the hot linking of photos.

Two ways of viewing the photos are included as ArcView 3.x scripts invoked by the GPS-Photo Link command tool:

  1. View photo as a View in ArcView 3.x
  2. Launch file with Windows default viewer for .JPG files (can be Internet Explorer, Photo Editor, etc.).

Copy the file "gpl.avx" from the GPS-Photo Link directory to the ArcView EXT32 directory, for example C:\ESRI\AV_GIS30\ARCVIEW\EXT32.

1. Start ArcView 3.x

2. Enable the GPS-Photo Link extension. Select menu File|Extensions, select the box next to "GPS-Photo Link". Select "default" if you want the extension always enabled.

3. Add the shape file with the photo information as a theme to a view. Open or create a new view. Select View|Add Theme, then locate the GPS-Photo Link file "picture.shp" in the directory under the Photo Root Folder, which defaults to \Program Files\GPS-Photo Link\Photos.

4. Select the picture.shp theme in the view.

5. Select the GPS-Photo Link tool (Camera icon). The first tool (blue) is for showing the photo in an ArcView view. The second tool (green) is for showing the photo using the Windows default for .JPG files. Pull down the tool menu to select the second tool.

6. Click on a point in the picture.shp them, the watermarked photo will then be displayed.

7. Shif-Click on a point to show the original photo from the digital camera.
