How can I use GPS-Photo Link? Below are stories about how some of our customers use it.
SAMPLE #1 - Inventory Assets
The city needs to document the position and condition of every street light. They also need to know what is attached to each light. But with thousands around the city, how can they keep them all straight? With the Ricoh 500SE GPS/camera and GPS Photo-Link crews can quickly record attributes of each light and snap a photo. Maps of each light are automatically associated with the data and placed into ArcGIS maps.

SAMPLE #2 - Wildlife Survey
Every year you have to count the number of seals to compliance with an animal protection act. You fly in planes taking pictures of seals on rocks. But when you get back, how will you tell where they were and whether you covered all the territory? Fortunately you have GPS-Photo Link which integrates into your ArcGIS system. Now you can show maps with photos of each island allowing experts to count and categorize the population from the office.

SAMPLE #3 - Damage Assessment
Living in a flood prone area the county geloocated photos of key assets for the community (schools, hospitals, utilities). After the flood new photos could easily be compared to the "before" photos. Even when no structure remained standing, the coordinates of the new photo proved what damage was done. Seeing before and after photos with coordinates made it easy to determine the extent of the damage.

SAMPLE #4 - Disaster Response
A hurricane just ripped through your county. Your helicopter flies just hours behind the storm surveying the damage and taking photos. With all this water and wreckage how can you tell what structures you are looking at? Fortunately you have a GPS-Photo Link and a Ricoh 500SE with external GPS antenna. When you stop to refuel you process your photos in minutes and send upload them on an FTP site for head quarters to dispatch response teams immediately.

SAMPLE #5 - Oil & Gas Exploration
You need to move heavy seismic survey vehicles and crews to a remote location and its your job to plan the best route. Instead of guessing with topographic maps, you send scouts armed with a Ricoh 500SE GPS/Camera system. Scouts take photos of the real time terrain including potential stream crossings, and rock outcroppings. Now you can apply for road permits with confidence and save survey crews hours or days of delays.

SAMPLE #6 - Mineral Exploration
You are looking for potential uranium deposits in the desert. From your helicopter you see some promising rock layers so you land on a nearby mesa and walk back to investigate. But on the ground all rocks look the same. How will you find that spot? Thankfully you took a photo using your Ricoh GPS/Camera. Now you can use GPS-Photo Link to print the photo with coordinates and a map. Using your GPS you approach the site and see the rocks from the photo you printed when you landed. You got there without having to spend hours wandering around hoping you found the right place.

SAMPLE #7 - Compliance Monitoring & Documentation
Whether cleaning up an environmental mess, constructing a new building that meets environmental requirements, or performing safety checks, proof of compliance is often required. Companies use GPS-Photo Link to document their work and agencies use it to determine compliance with regulations. How do you know the photo is really showing the location in question? GPS-Photo Link maps the photo with the date and time providing proof.
